Firefighters Battle 3rd Alarm House Fire In Teaneck

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Teaneck - Firefighters quickly extinguish heavy fire conditions on arrival preventing the fire from consuming the entire home late Saturday night. Just before midnight, Teaneck firefighters were dispatched to 497 Linden Ave for a reported house fire. First arriving PD units reported heavy fire conditions in the rear and that all occupants were out of the home. Shortly after, FD units arrived to the rear of the home well involved on the first floor and already extended into the second floor. Two hand lines were stretched, on through the front door and another through the side to start an interior attack. Command, due to heavy fire conditions, transmitted the 2nd alarm on arrival bringing mutual aid to the scene and for cover. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the heavy fire on both floors, which appears to have originated in a greenhouse in the rear on the first floor. Companies continued to chase pockets of fire on all floors with mutual aid companies assisting with overhaul, searches and opening up walls and ceilings. As temperatures hovering in the 80s, a 3rd alarm was requested for manpower to aid in bringing the fire under control. Mutual aid from Hackensack, Englewood, Ridgefield Park, Bogota, Bergenfield, Box 54 assisted on scene. The fire was placed under control within two hours. No injuries were reported, and the fire is under investigation.
