Bedroom Fire Brought Quickly Under Control on Rodger Drive In Colonie

On June 21, 2025, at 9:39 PM, the Shaker Road Fire Department along with mutual aid from the Latham Fire Department, the Colonie Village Fire Company for the rapid intervention team, and Colonie Emergency Medical Services was dispatched to 12 Rodger Drive for a reported structure fire. The caller reported a bedroom was on fire. The first arriving police unit on scene notified the dispatcher that they had smoke shown from the structure and notified the dispatcher where the nearest hydrant was located.
Car fifty-one arrived on scene and assumed command and had smoke showing from the structure. Squad nine followed by truck nine quickly arrived on scene and deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the front door. Firefighters quickly conducted a primary search of the house to assure that everybody was out of the building. Firefighters notified command that they had a mattress on fire in the residence and they extinguished the fire. Firefighters conducted positive pressure ventilation to remove the smoke from the structure. Firefighters conducted overhaul of the fire area.
No injuries were reported and due to the rapid response of the firefighters the damage was kept to a minimum. The Town of Colonie fire services was contacted to conduct their investigation into the cause of the fire. No determination of the fire has been released publicly, and firefighters went back into service a short time later.
