On July 3, 2026, at 2110 hours, the Burlington County Fire Alarm Room dispatched the Medford Fire Department and automatic aid units to 199 Church Road, Medford, NJ for the report of a church on fire. South Jersey was in the midst of a heat wave where the heat index was over 100 degrees. A summer lightening and thunder storm rolled through the area and there was a reported lightening strike to the Fellowship Alliance Chapel. First arriving units reported fire showing from the roof area of a very large multi story church building. After the size up and evaluating the situation, several additional alarms and resources were immediately called to the scene to have the resources in place to make a good hit on the fire and halt its progress and extension to other parts of the building. Water supplies were established and multiple ladder companies ascended to the roof to make the appropriate cuts to direct, vent, and access the fire in the massive roof system. After a multi county response of 5+ alarms and an over three hour fire fight, the fire was placed under control at 0026 hours on July 4. There were no injuries reported.
