West Burke, VT - West Burke Fire Department responded on mutual aid to Sheffield for a second-alarm tanker assignment during an active working fire.
At the time, both West Burke and East Burke Fire Brigade were operating with limited staffing, as crews were already committed to the incident and several members were preparing for a fellow firefighter’s wedding. Despite the challenges, Firefighter Hinman (WB/EB), Assistant Chief Hinman (EB), and Chief Willey (EB) quickly adjusted plans and responded with Engine 3 to ensure coverage.
This response underscores the dedication, flexibility, and teamwork that define the volunteer fire service—proving once again that it truly takes a village to keep operations running.
