Wyckoff Crews Extinguished Mulch Fire on Merrywood Drive

Wyckoff, N.J. — June 4 — Following complaints of an outside fire, the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department arrived at a home on Merrywood Drive. When workers arrived, they discovered a small mulch fire that had been started by a malfunctioning electrical cable that was attached to a lamp post. After putting out the flaming mulch and securing the electrical supply, firefighters made sure the fire had not spread to the house or any neighboring vegetation.


When wiring deteriorates or is broken, outdoor electrical equipment can become a source of ignite, thus prompt reporting and action are crucial. The incident was contained with just minor external damage, and no injuries were reported.
