Car Burst Into Flames In Mastic Beach

Mastic Beach N.Y - At approximately 7:22 PM on Sunday June 27th the Mastic Beach fire department was toned out for a reported vehicle fire at 238 Beaver drive between Pine road & Queen road. Commissioner Bill Biondi (5-13-99) was first on scene and radioed to fire-com and asked to re-tone his department for a working car fire. The first engine on the road was engine 8 (5-13-8) and arrived on scene and immediately stretched 2 lines and started putting water on the fire. Firefighters started using tools to open the hood where the main body of fire was. Rescue 4 (5-13-4) arrived on scene and sent its manpower up to the scene. Fire police (5-13-80) and van 6 (5-13-6) arrived on scene and helped with traffic control. There were no reported injuries and all units were back in service within 45 minutes of the initial call and the cause of the fire in unknown at this time.
