BERGENFIELD, NJ - Firefighters were called to 157 2nd St. shortly after 3:00 PM on Saturday, June 28th, for a reported house fire. The first arriving chief on scene transmitted the working fire as smoke was showing from the Bravo side of the home and from the chimney. Upon further investigation, a fire in the basement was confirmed and first due Engine 2 was ordered to stretch a 1.75" hand line to the side door into the basement. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 arrived shortly after and assisted the first arriving company. Ladder 1 put the stick to the roof as interior companies reported they had water on the fire. As primary and secondary searches were underway, natural ventilation was performed. Englewood Truck 1 arrived and assisted with overhaul as the main body of fire was knocked down. It took firefighters under 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
