Bergenfield - Firefighters were called to 157 2nd St shortly after 3pm on Saturday, June 28th for a reported house fire. First arriving Chief arrived on scene and transmitted the working fire as smoke was showing from the bravo side of the home and from the chimney. Upon further investigation, it was confirmed a fire in the basement and first due engine 2 was ordered to stretch a 1.75" handline to the side door into the basement. Engine 1 and Ladder 1 arrived shortly after and assisted the first arriving company. Ladder 1 put the stick to the roof as interior companies reported they had water on the fire. As primary and secondary searches were under way, natural ventilation was performed. Englewood truck 1 arrived and assisted with overhaul as the main body of fire was knocked down. It took firefighters under 30minutes to bring the fire under control. No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
