Firefighters Extinguish Industrial Hopper Fire at Jefferson Hills Facility

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Jefferson Hills, PA - Jefferson Hills Fire Rescue crews responded to an industrial fire on Glass House Road, where they found flames at the top and base of a 75-foot hopper containing coke dust.

The incident was upgraded due to the size of the fire, with additional tower ladders and tanker units requested because of the hopper's height and the lack of hydrants on the property. Firefighters extinguished the main fire using handlines before removing and dousing smoldering coke dust from the hopper with elevated master streams.

Crews remained on scene for about three hours. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
