Mastic Handles Garage Fire on Market Street

Mastic N.Y. On a recent Sunday evening the Mastic FD was activated to 14 Market St for a report of a structure fire. On arrival chief Rudy Sunderman found smoke showing showing and a working fire was transmitted. Mutual aid was activated from neighboring departments of Mastic Beach and Center Moriches. Firefighters located the fire in the garage and were able to quickly contain it and conducted overhaul. They remained on scene for the fire marshal. It appears that A battery charging may have been the preliminary cause. The Brookhaven Town Fire Marshal’s office was investigating.
