Swift Fire Response Averts Disaster After Propane Tank Strike in Rangeley

Rangeley, ME - The Rangeley Fire Rescue responded to a hazardous incident in Rangeley after a vehicle struck a large propane tank, causing an active leak and prompting evacuations of nearby residents and businesses.


Fire crews detected elevated gas levels and deployed a water fog using the Blitzfire monitor to disperse propane vapors, allowing them to safely approach and shut off the tank. The leak was successfully secured, and the scene was declared safe shortly after.


Assistance was provided by MaineHealth EMS and the United States Border Patrol.
