Mastic Beach Handles Electrical Fire On Argyle Dr.

Mastic Beach, NY - On May 19th, the Mastic Beach Fire Department was activated around 4:15 p.m. for a reported house fire on Argyle Dr. between Grandview Dr. and Pinetree Dr. The Mastic Fire Department was automatically mutual aided for an engine and the Mastic Beach Ambulance Company was called to the scene as well. 

Chief of Department Luis Grego along with Assistant Chiefs Roy A. and Jason Sharp responded to the scene of the fire. On arrival, the Chief of Department advised that he had an active fire on the side of the house and an electrical problem. Tanker 5-13-2 arrived on scene first due and went to work quickly. They were joined by Ladder 5-13-1 and Engine 5-13-3.


Crews went to work, quickly knocking down the fire on the side of the house by the electric meter and also in the garage. Rescue 5-13-4 also supplied a boaster line to assist in suppressing the fire as well as hot stick to determine if the lines were still hot which they were. 

The Mastic Fire Department was cancelled as Mastic Beach had sufficient resources. Once the fire was out, firefighters remained on scene overhauling and waiting for PSEG the local electric utility to arrive on scene to secure the power to the home and local area. 

No injuries were reported. Mastic Beach Ambulance remained on scene in case they were needed.
