Clinton Firefighters Responded to Reported Chimney Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

CLINTON, CT — May 9th — A chimney fire at a townhouse was reported, and the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department responded on Saturday. When firefighters arrived, they evaluated the chimney and nearby surroundings to see if the fire had spread past the flue system. Because heat and embers can move into hidden areas of a building, chimney fires need to be carefully inspected.

Crews sought to make sure there was no more hidden fire and that the event was controlled. In addition to reminding locals that proper chimney care can help lower the risk of chimney fires, the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department, based at 35 E. Main St., periodically trains for house fire events.
