Around 4:04pm on June 6th the Preston Fire Dept. was dispatched to a home on Miller Road for a chlorine Haz-Mat situation. First arriving crews established command and investigated in full PPE and SCBA's. Chlorine tablets had been exposed to rainwater and were beginning to break down in their container. DEEP and CERRIT were contacted via phone and advised command on the next course of action. A Haz-Mat team from the Mashantucket Pequot Fire Dept. was requested to the scene. A crew of four (2 FF's as primary and 2 FF's as RIT) mitigated the hazard by placing the chlorine tablets into the homeowner's pool.
