At 4:40 a.m. on May 27, firefighters from Gales Ferry and Ledyard arrived at the 1000 block of Long Cove Road in response to a car fire that was reportedly endangering a structure. A working fire assignment was obtained, sending mutual aid forces to the area as other 911 callers reported the home getting involved.
When emergency personnel arrived, they discovered two highly damaged automobiles and two adjoining buildings in danger from flames. The fire was swiftly contained by firefighters, who also stopped it from spreading to either building. There were no reported injuries.
The Ledyard Fire Marshal's Office is still looking into the event. Additionally, mutual help organizations offered support and station coverage.
