Firefighters Manage Hazardous Tree-on-Wires Incident in Beaver Township

Beaver TWP, PA - On the afternoon of May 23, firefighters from the Beaver Township Volunteer Fire Company were dispatched at 3:36 p.m. to the area of 600 Scotch Valley Road for a report of a tree down on utility wires that was actively smoking.


Upon arrival, crews assessed the situation and established traffic control measures to ensure public safety while awaiting the arrival of utility personnel from PPL. Firefighters remained on scene monitoring the hazard and maintaining a secure perimeter until the utility company addressed the issue.


Brush Truck 143 responded with one firefighter, while five additional members arrived in their personal vehicles to assist with the operation. After the scene was stabilized and turned over to utility crews, Chief 140 cleared all units at approximately 5:00 p.m.
