Lyndhurst, NJ - At about 9:30 AM on June 5th, Lyndhurst firefighters were dispatched to 1124 Forest Ave. for the report of a fire with a person trapped on the second floor. Luckily, a township firefighter lived across the street from the fire building and was able to remove the person before fire units arrived. Other residents were able to self evacuate.

Smoke from a fire in the basement was showing from all floors on arrival. One line was stretched into the basement from a side door and another went in the front door. Members quickly had water on the fire and was able to keep the flames from extending. The basement suffered heavy damage with the upper floors receiving smoke damage. No serious injuries were reported but a family cat perished in the blaze. Rutherford and North Arlington assisted at the scene.
