NEWBURGH, NY – The Winona Lake Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle that reportedly struck several children on Starrow Drive, June 4th. The Town of Newburgh Police Department and Town of Newburgh EMS were on scene. Due to the severity of the incident, Town of Newburgh EMS requested two medical helicopters for the victims. One helicopter was later canceled, and EMS transported the remaining patients to the hospital by ambulance. The New York State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit was requested to investigate the incident. Firefighters assisted EMS personnel on scene and stood by as operations continued. The Good Will Fire Department established a landing zone at the Newburgh Mall for the incoming medical helicopter. The incident remains under investigation.
