Alachua, FL - Firefighters with Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) responded to a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment near Mile Marker 390 on southbound Interstate 75.

Upon arrival, crews discovered two heavily damaged vehicles off the roadway. One vehicle had overturned, while the second was resting on its side. Initial assessment revealed that one of the vehicles had been towing the other at the time of the collision.

During a rapid scene size-up, firefighters identified a critically injured occupant trapped inside the vehicle lying on its side. Rescue crews quickly stabilized the vehicle and initiated a roof-flap extrication using hydraulic rescue tools to gain access to the patient.

Thanks to the coordinated efforts of ACFR personnel, the patient was successfully freed and transported to a local hospital in less than 10 minutes from the time crews arrived on scene. The incident highlighted the department’s rapid response capabilities and technical rescue expertise in handling complex vehicle entrapments.
