Good Will FD Responds to Tractor-Trailer Incident on I-84

NEWBURGH, NY – Good Will Fire Department responded to a tractor-trailer that had left the roadway on May 31st on Interstate 84 eastbound, approximately one-quarter mile east of the State Route 52 entrance ramp. The New York State Police were on scene. The driver was out of the vehicle when firefighters arrived. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) was notified of a fuel leak in a ditch line near a catch basin. Firefighters placed absorbent booms ahead of the basin to help contain the spill. Firefighters also spread Speedy Dry on Interstate 84 where diesel fuel had spilled onto the roadway. The New York State Police requested a heavy-duty wrecker, and Quality Towing was dispatched to the scene. The cause of the incident remains under investigation by the New York State Police.
