Newburgh Firefighters Contain Commercial Building Fire

NEWBURGH, NY – The City of Newburgh Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire at 250 Little Britain Rd. on May 30th. Upon arrival, command observed smoke coming from the business and requested that a second alarm be sounded. Fire departments from West Point, Air National Guard, Orange Lake, and Cornwall-on-Hudson responded to the scene. Firefighters used hand lines to extinguish the fire and hand tools to overhaul the affected area. Deputy Orange County Fire Coordinator 36-13 was on scene. The City of Newburgh Police Department blocked the roadway, and Empress EMS also responded. The Cause and Origin Unit was requested to the scene. New Windsor and Cornwall-on-Hudson firefighters stood by at the Public Safety Building. The fire remains under investigation.
