ENGLEWOOD, NJ - Shortly after 5:30 P.M. on May 27th, the Englewood FD was dispatched to 88 Knickerbocker Rd. for a report from police of a fire.
Heavy fire was showing from the front porch of a 2.5 story frame dwelling as units arrived. A second-alarm was called as companies stretched in and began a search. Flames extended into the structure. Several lines were operated, both inside and out, and had most of the visible fire knocked within a half hour. Extensive opening up and venting soon had the smoke condition lightening.
A third-alarm was sounded for relief. The fire was placed under control in less than 1.5 hours. Units from Hackensack, Teaneck, Tenafly and Bergenfield assisted at the scene. No injuries were reported.
