The Academy fire burned nearly 50 acres in the San Pasqual Valley near Escondido, CA on May 16, 2025. It was reported around 14:30. The fire erupted near the San Pasqual Academy on San Pasqual Valley Road. It briefly threatened structures on Highland Valley Road, but the threat was mitigated. The fire was 100% contained by May 18, 2025. The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Numerous resources on the ground and air fought the fire. There were no reported injuries. Responding agencies were San Diego Fire-Rescue, Poway Fire Department, Escondido Fire Department, Cal-Fire, Rancho Santa Fe Fire and a crew from the Forest service.
