PASCOAG, R.I. — May 13 — During a brush fire reaction at Sawmill Road, Glocester fire units received assistance from Pascoag Fire Department crews. In a wooded location with restricted hydrant access, forestry and tanker units were sent to help suppression efforts and provide water supply operations. For several hours, mutual help teams collaborated to confine the fire and stop it from spreading through dry brush and trees.

In order to keep water flowing to crews working in challenging terrain, tanker shuttle operations were crucial. Due to dry vegetation and shifting weather patterns, spring brush fires are still a problem in northern Rhode Island. To assist lower the risk of wildfires, fire officials keep encouraging locals to burn outdoors carefully and dispose of smoking debris correctly.
