West Weathersfield Crews Respond to Brush and Chimney Fires

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

PERKINSVILLE, Vt. — April 24th — Over the course of two days, West Weathersfield Fire Department personnel responded to two distinct fire-related incidents: a chimney fire with high carbon monoxide levels inside a home and a brush fire started by a tree on power lines. When a downed tree started a brush fire close to electricity lines, firefighters were sent to Gulf Road. While utility workers dealt with the electrical issue, crews confined the fire.

When firemen came to a reported chimney fire the next day, they found the basement to be heavily smoke-filled. High quantities of carbon monoxide were found within the facility by monitoring equipment. Before leaving the area, crews ventilated the building, looked for fire extensions, and made sure everything was safe.
