Woodbury Heights, NJ - On May 20, 2025, at approximately 1334 hours a dump truck carrying a load of construction sand drove off of the roadway and crashed into a house trapping the driver and injuring an occupant in the house.

Heading north on Woodbury Glassboro Road in Woodbury Heights, Gloucester County, NJ, the driver of the dump truck drove off the road, careened through a utility pole, across the front yards of several houses and crashed into a house at 941 Woodbury Glassboro Road, knocking the house off of its foundation, and coming to rest in the basement of the house. The crash collapsed portions of the house, injuring the occupant of the house, and left the driver of the dump truck trapped in his truck until rescuers could shore up the house and extricate him from the rubble. Both the occupant of the house and the driver are believed to not have sustained life threatening injuries. It is reported that the driver of the truck may have experienced a medical emergency while driving.

Multiple fire, EMS, and police resources were dispatched to the incident. First in units, confirmed the report that a dump truck crashed into the dwelling, knocking it off its foundation and collapsing much of the dwelling. As a result of the crash, there was an active natural gas leak. Utility crews immediately responded to secure the gas and electrical service to the house.

After assessing the scene, the IC requested the Camden County Collapse Rescue Task Force to the scene. Member units from Cherry Hill, Camden, Winslow Twp, and Voorhees responded with personnel and equipment to assist with stabilizing the collapsed structure and to remove the victim. It took over two hours to secure the structure and remove the victim.

Multiple fire departments from Gloucester County assisted with water supply, hose deployment, air monitoring, debris removal, equipment set up, victim removal and various other essential duties on scene. The teamwork that all departments displayed was remarkable especially with such a complex incident.

Cranes and special equipment were used to remove the dump truck from the house before the house could be prepared to be demolished.
