OCEANSIDE, NY - On May 6th, the Oceanside Fire Department responded to a truck fire on Hampton Road involving a tractor trailer transporting construction waste. Assistant Chief Klein arrived on scene first and reported that the trailer was completely engulfed in flames that had spread to a nearby roll-off vehicle and a payload truck. Before Tower Ladder 244 arrived and activated its master stream, firefighters working from Engines 246 and 249 stretched hand lines and started to contain the fire. To help firefighters with overhaul operations, yard workers separated automobiles and debris using heavy machinery. The Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office and Nassau County Police also responded to the scene.
