Driver Suffers Medical Emergency Before Crashing and Overturning in Sands Point

PORT WASHINGTON, NY - The Port Washington Fire Department responded to the intersection of Barkers Point Road and Cow Neck Road in the Village of Sands Point on May 5th for a reported MVA involving an overturned vehicle with entrapment. The car hit a power pole before overturning, according to Chief of Department Donald Reese. To safely free the trapped driver, firefighters from Rescue 8522 used hydraulic rescue equipment and removed a door. The patient was taken to Manhasset's North Shore Hospital for assessment and care. Afterwards, authorities discovered that the driver had a medical emergency prior to the collision and was in critical condition.
