The Amwell Valley Fire Company arrived at Wertsville Road in East Amwell Township at around 5:13 a.m. on May 8th in response to a report of a home structure fire with potential residents trapped.
Chief 48 started the initial fire fight with a water can after arriving to discover smoke, according to officials, while arriving crews extended hoselines into the house. Tender Task Force South launched a rural water supply operation while Engine 48-1 and mutual aid firemen tried to put out the fire at the back of the house.
Mutual aid assistance was provided by the Ringoes Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Station 36 Fire Department, 52 Fire Department, and the Amwell Valley Ambulance Corps. The fire was brought under control in approximately 90 minutes. The incident remains under investigation by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety State Fire Marshal’s Office.
Shortly after clearing the fire scene, at approximately 8:12 a.m., the department responded to Linvale Harbourton Road in West Amwell Township for a rollover crash with possible entrapment. Crews arrived to find an SUV on its side against a snapped utility pole, though the driver had self-extricated prior to arrival. Firefighters secured hazards and remained on scene until the arrival of the tow company and utility crews.
