BELLEVILLE, NJ — May 3rd — When a massive 11-alarm warehouse fire endangered multiple surrounding residences in Belleville, members of the Budd Lake Volunteer Fire Department responded on a mutual aid assignment. In order to provide tenders for water shuttle operations to support fire suppression efforts, Budd Lake firefighters collaborated with departments from throughout the region. Before being allowed to leave the area the next morning, firefighters worked all night.
Tanker task forces from multiple counties were among the many mutual aid resources needed to keep the firefighting personnel' water supply intact. As many organizations carried out suppression and overhaul operations throughout the day, officials stated that the fire remained active. Such widespread reactions continue to demonstrate the regional cooperation among New Jersey fire units.
