NORTH CAPE MAY, NJ - Townbank Fire Company firefighters arrived at 91 Beach Drive in response to a smoke investigation on April 29th. When Chief 61 arrived, a detached outbuilding was heavily involved in a fire that was spreading to an adjacent tiki bar. In order to support operations, a working fire assignment sent in extra firefighters from Rio Grande, Erma, Villas, and Cape May.
The fire was quickly restricted to the building of origin by first-arriving units using hand lines, limiting damage to a small addition on the tiki bar. Firefighters handled extinguishment and overhaul operations for about three hours. No injuries were reported during the incident.
The Lower Township Police Department, Cape May County Fire Marshal's Office, and Lower Township Bureau of Fire Safety are investigating the fire.
