Mulch Fire Spreads to Porch of Home in East Rutherford

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - Firefighters were called to 3 Laurel Place around 6:45 A.M. on May 17th on a report of a house fire with a person trapped inside.
Police units arrived to find a section of the front porch on fire. Officer Derosa knocked some of the fire down with a fire extinguisher from his patrol car as fire units were arriving. The owner of the home was removed safely.
It seems that mulch was burning and had extended to the wood porch. The fire was under control in 15 minutes.
