Engine 3 Deployed for Mutual Aid Brush Fire Response

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

BERLIN, MA — May 5th — In response to a significant brush fire, the Berlin Fire & EMS Department sent Engine 3 and 6C to Lancaster on a mutual assistance assignment. As the fire expanded due to wind and dry conditions, Berlin teams arrived to help local firemen with suppression efforts. Springtime brush fires frequently call for more personnel, assistance with the water supply, and prolonged operations from neighboring departments.

Through mutual aid agreements, fire departments in Central Massachusetts are able to maintain emergency coverage in their own districts while sharing equipment and people during major emergencies. As brush fire activity rises during times of dry vegetation and warmer weather, fire officials around the region continue to emphasize the significance of coordinated response operations.
