LEDYARD, CT — On Tuesday, May 13th at 4:51 PM, the Ledyard and Gales Ferry Fire Departments were dispatched to 225 Lambtown Road for a house fire. Station R received multiple calls and transmitted the working fire at 4:54 PM, which added Mashantucket Engine 1, Sub Base Engine 62, Old Mystic Engine 61, Preston Tanker 12, North Stonington Tanker 13, Center Groton Tanker 72, Wequetequock Tanker 34, and American Ambulance Car Enterprise to the assignment.
R-18 arrived at 5:01 PM and reported a 2.5-story wood-frame residential house approximately 50% involved, with the garage as an exposure. A second alarm was transmitted. R1 then established command and reported two buildings involved. Engine 11 laid a supply line and stretched multiple attack lines. Tanker 14 nursed Engine 11 and left room for Poquonnock Bridge’s Truck 35 in the front.
Companies remained on scene for hours, fighting the fire and performing overhaul. Additional mutual aid responded from Laurel Hill Engine 62, East Great Plain ET-51, Oakdale Tanker 43, a Mystic engine, and New London FAST. The Ledyard Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating.
