Burlington EMS and the Burlington Volunteer Fire Department responded to a residential building fire on Sherman Drive on April 10. The Bristol Fire Department, Canton Fire and EMS Department, Harwinton Volunteer Fire Department, and Tunxis Hose Company No. 1 were among the mutual aid organizations engaged on the working fire assignment.
For assessment and treatment of smoke inhalation, one passenger was taken to a nearby hospital. A dog inside the house passed away from smoke inhalation, according to officials.
While crews remained at the fire scene, additional Burlington Fire and EMS personnel, including the department’s second ambulance, responded with assistance from the Harwinton West Side Volunteer Fire Department to a separate motor vehicle accident involving a vehicle into a utility pole on South Main Street.
