WHITMAN, MA - Around 7:45 A.M. on the morning of Monday, May 8th, the Whitman Fire Department responded to the intersection of Bedford Street (Route-18) at Rock Street for a reported motor vehicle accident involving a tractor-trailer unit. Ambulance-249, Engine-243 and Car-3 responded.

Companies arrived to find a tractor-trailer unit that struck a passenger vehicle. The driver's side of the passenger was struck, and sustained heavy damage. Surprisingly, only minor injuries were reported to the sole occupant of the passenger vehicle. The tractor-trailer unit operator was evaluated, but uninjured. The occupant of the car was eventually transported to the South Shore Hospital for an evaluation.

The police held the scene until photographs could be obtained to investigate the accident. Route-18 was closed for approximately one hour while the scene was investigated and cleaned up.
