May 7, 2020 – Wilkinsburg, Allegheny County - At 2:24am, City of Pittsburgh firefighters were dispatched to fire zone 3-20 in Borough of Wilkinsburg for a reported house on fire located along the 1700 block of Laketon Road. Dispatched advised responding units that they were now receiving multiple calls for a house on fire. Crews arrived and found a working fire in a vacant home and quickly made entry to attack the fire. A short time later, heavy fire began to show on the delta side of the structure quickly extending into an exposure structure. A second alarm was requested as crews made entry into the exposure home to contain the fire from spreading further. The fire also extended into the bravo side structure as crews continued to work to contain the fire. A 3rd alarm was requested once fire was found in the second exposure and the fire was finally brought under control at 3:26am. One person who was in the vacant structure was transported to the hospital with undisclosed injures. Two adults and three children who lived an exposure house were displaced. The Allegheny County Fire Marshall’s office is still investigating.
