NORWALK, CT - The City of Norwalk Fire Department responded to a structure fire on Sunday, April 20th at 2:51 PM.

The fire was located at #15 Lockwood Ln., in a two-story wood-frame dwelling. Initial reports were for a fire inside the house with the occupant trying to get back inside.

First arriving companies encountered heavy smoke showing from the front of the structure on the first-floor, with a fully-involved kitchen fire towards the rear. The fire was beginning to take control of the first-floor while starting to make its way to the second-floor as the first attack line was stretched and put into operation.

A total of two attack lines were stretched to control and extinguish the fire. Firefighters conducted primary searches of all floors, as well as conducted horizontal ventilation. Both primary and secondary searches were negative. The fire was able to be controlled using a first-alarm assignment consisting of 26 firefighters.

The home suffered severe fire, smoke, and heat damage throughout. There was one occupant who was displaced and attended to by the Red Cross. Several birds unfortunately perished in the fire. There were no reported injuries.

The Norwalk Fire Marshal Division is investigating the cause of the fire.
