Structure Fire, Lexington Ave. in Norwalk

The Norwalk Fire Department responded to an occupied multi-family residential structure at 30 Lexington Avenue at 2:40pm Tuesday, April 29th 2025. Occupants on the 2nd and 3rd floors, unaware of the fire were quickly evacuated by first arriving officers. Firefighters found the bulk of the fire on the 3rd floor living space and sections behind the knee-walls. The fire went to a 3rd alarm prior to being controlled due to the estimated occupancy load and failed fire hydrant water supply. This was a task heavy search operation due to the dwelling being operated as a rooming house. The Norwalk Fire Department responded with a total of 41 Firefighters to the 3 Alarm fire consisting of five Engines, two Ladders, a Rescue Company with Command and Support staff. Norwalk Hospital Paramedics responded initially with 5 medical responders before reducing personnel once it was confirmed the were no civilian or fire service casualties. The Red Cross is assisting with temporary housing for 22 displaced occupants. The Norwalk Fire Marshalls office is investigating the cause of the fire.
