Massive Scrap Yard & Brush Fire Draws Regional Mutual Aid Response
Little Compton, RI - The Little Compton Fire Department joined a large-scale mutual aid operation in Westport, Massachusetts, assisting crews battling a major fire at the Mid City Steel scrapyard that quickly spread into surrounding wooded areas.
Tanker 1 and Car 1 supported extensive water supply operations, shuttling approximately 54,000 gallons of water over a 12-hour period to help contain the intense scrapyard fire.
Forestry 1 was later deployed to the east side of the incident as firefighters worked to stop the rapidly advancing brush fire from spreading further.
The coordinated effort involved multiple agencies working tirelessly under challenging conditions to protect nearby properties and bring the fire under control.
