Keyport Crews Extinguish Porch Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

The Keyport Fire Department dispatched D22 and D65 to First Street at around 11 p.m. on April 23 in response to a probable fire.

When Squad 22 arrived, they discovered smoke and an odor emanating from a big, multi-dwelling, three-story home's basement. A minor, smoldering fire beneath the front porch was discovered by the crews. Firefighters put out the fire by stretching a line.

Members had to cut and breach the porch to get to the fire's seat due to restricted access. The event was swiftly brought under control, according to officials, and no further extensions were reported.
