Regional Mutual Aid Mobilized for Large Mulch and Equipment Fire at Industrial Facility

Berkley, MA - Berkley Fire & Rescue units responded as part of a large-scale mutual aid operation to an active fire at the J&J Materials facility on Fall River Avenue in Rehoboth.

Upon arrival, crews encountered extensive fire conditions involving large mulch piles, along with heavy equipment and trailers.

The nature of the materials contributed to challenging suppression efforts, requiring sustained operations and coordinated tactics to contain the fire.

Due to the size and complexity of the incident, additional mutual aid resources were requested from across Bristol County and neighboring Rhode Island.

Fire departments worked collectively to bring the situation under control, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation during large industrial fires.

The response underscores the critical role of mutual aid in managing high-demand incidents, ensuring sufficient personnel, apparatus, and resources are available to effectively mitigate hazards and protect surrounding areas.
