Quick Knockdown Limits Damage at Fair Lawn Two-Alarm House Fire

FAIR LAWN, NJ — A two-alarm fire caused significant damage to a residence on Paterson Street, prompting a rapid response from the Fair Lawn Fire Department and mutual aid partners.

Firefighters were dispatched after a passerby reported smoke coming from the home. Upon arrival, Fire Chief Michael Salvini confirmed active smoke conditions and requested a second alarm, bringing in additional crews from Paterson, Saddle Brook, Elmwood Park, and Paramus to assist and cover local stations.

The first arriving engine companies quickly advanced hoselines and knocked down the fire, successfully containing it to the kitchen area.

While the damage was largely confined, the kitchen sustained heavy impact. The home’s residents were displaced and are staying with family.

Approximately 40 firefighters operated at the scene alongside the Fair Lawn Police Department, Fair Lawn Rescue Squad, and the Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps. No injuries were reported among residents or responding personnel.

The incident remains under investigation by the Fair Lawn Fire Prevention Bureau.
