Gas Line Strike Prompts Evacuations in East Rutherford

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - On April 24th, the East Rutherford Fire Department responded to a ruptured high-pressure gas line after it was struck during construction operations on Hackensack Street, prompting an immediate emergency response.


As a precaution, crews evacuated the surrounding area and shut down the roadway to protect public safety.


With the break located near a newly constructed apartment building, additional resources were requested, bringing mutual aid departments to the scene. Working in coordination, responders secured the area while PSEG crews arrived and safely mitigated the hazard.
