Campton, NH - Campton-Thornton Fire Rescue responded to a burning dump truck on I-93 northbound near Exit 27, with smoke visible from miles away.
Upon arrival, crews found a fully involved vehicle and a fast-spreading brush fire in the median.
Engine 3 attacked the vehicle fire while additional crews, including Plymouth Fire-Rescue and mutual aid departments, worked to contain the brush fire, which quickly grew to about a quarter-acre due to dry, windy conditions.
Heavy smoke forced a temporary shutdown of both sides of the highway for safety. Firefighters brought the incident under control and remained on scene for mop-up as lanes gradually reopened.
