Antique Vehicles Destroyed in Garfield Garage Fire

GARFIELD, NJ - A 1957 Bel Air was destroyed, along with another antique Chevy and a motorcycle, in an overnight fire in Garfield on May 1st.
At 2:05 A.M., fire companies were dispatched to a home on Cerar St. on a reported fire. As Assistant Chief Morano arrived he reported a smoke condition in the area and confirmed a work garage fire at 42 Cedar St. Heavy fire was already venting from the second floor of the detached garage. First due companies had it knocked down in just under 30 minutes and it was declared under control a few minutes later by Chief of Dept. Anthony Swistock.
Unfortunately, the iconic black '57 Chevrolet Bel Air seen in any number of movies, from "American Graffiti" and "Dirty Dancing" to "The Hollywood Knights", "Sin City", and "Gone In 60 Seconds", was destroyed along with a 1979 Chevelle and a motorcycle. Mutual aid from Elmwood Park, Saddle Brook and Wallington assisted.
