On April 23, at around 8:37 p.m., the Taftville Fire Department, Norwich units, and the East Great Plain Volunteer Fire Company responded to a reported building fire on North 3rd Avenue.
The fire departments of Lisbon, Laurel Hill, and Occum were asked for more personnel and coverage. In addition to working to put out the fire, crews performed overhaul operations to make sure there was no more extension.
Around 10:05 p.m., the fire was contained. For structure fires, multi-agency responses are typical in order to guarantee sufficient personnel and resources.
Units stayed on the site until operations were finished, at which point they were put back into duty.
