Crews Respond to Second-Alarm Structure Fire on Bank St. in Walden

WALDEN, NY - Walden FD responded to reported structure fire at 31 Bank Street on April 29th. Command arrived and found fire and smoke on the bottom floor and requested a second-alarm. Mutual aid to the scene included Montgomery, Bullville, Coldenham, Newburgh, Wallkill, Orange Lake and Vails Gate. Firefighters used hand lines and ground ladders.


At the 20 minute status check, two lines were in operation with fire on the. first and second floors knocked down. Fire began extending into the attic area. At the 30 minute status check, three lines were in operation and the main body of fire was knocked down.


At the 60 minute status check, the fire was under control and overhaul was in progress. Orange County Deputy Fire Coordinator 36-4 36-12, fire investigator 36-104, and Montgomery EMS were at the scene. NYSGE called for a power cut. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
