Quick Response Limits Spread of Brush Fire

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Brookfield, MA — April 14th — On Tuesday afternoon, the Brookfield Fire Department, located at 4 Central St., Brookfield, MA, USA, 01506, responded to a roadside fire on Lake Road. When crews arrived, they saw smoldering vegetation along the road and swiftly contained the fire. To stop the spread and put out any residual hot spots, firefighters used handlines and hand tools.

These kinds of incidents frequently occur in the spring because of wind and parched vegetation. It was anticipated that rain later in the evening would lessen the immediate fire risk. Officials point out that wind and warmer temperatures can immediately raise the risk of another fire. As seasonal conditions continue to shift, crews are still prepared for more calls.
