New Fairfield, CT - New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department units responded to Pootatuck State Forest during severe thunderstorms for a report of an injured hiker.
Firefighters deployed multiple units and off-road resources, locating the patient deep within the woods between the Squantz Pond and Pine Hill access points.
Operating in heavy rain, strong winds, and darkness, crews safely assisted the individual—who had suffered an ankle injury—out of the forest.
The incident saw coordinated efforts from New Fairfield Volunteer Fire Company A, Ball Pond Volunteer Fire Company, and Squantz Engine Company, highlighting strong teamwork under challenging conditions.
