Binghamton , NY - Binghamton Fire Department crews responded to a report of a person in the water near Front Street and quickly located an elderly, visually impaired man in distress at the base of a steep riverbank.

Fire ambulance personnel made their way down the embankment and entered the water to reach the victim, bringing him safely to shore. Additional crews established a low-angle rope rescue system to carefully extricate the patient up the embankment.

The individual was transported to a local hospital for further evaluation following the successful rescue.
